MEET OUR 2016 EPICSERVICE WINNER | BRIAN GILLIS


While working dispatch, Brian received a call from a woman who could not find her husband. She spoke very little English but was able to communicate that they had been staying at Heavenly and he had taken a ride to Northstar to ski but had not been heard from since. Brian called numerous departments and the hospital but had no luck. In his continued search, he reached out to a hospital in Reno (an hour away) and found out that her husband had been treated there for a trauma but had checked himself out against medical advice. Concerned for the guest’s safety, Brian began to coordinate between Reno and South Lake police departments to locate him and was able to track down that that he had gone to the airport to rent a car. Brian called the hotel that they were staying at and received confirmation that the guest arrived back at the hotel. Brian used his training and experience to quickly go above and beyond in an effort to locate this missing guest and verify his safety.
